Caffe Pralet is perhaps a hidden gem to cafe-goers, but definitely no stranger to the office crowd in Tiong Bahru. This cafe/casual dining restaurant also houses a baking school across the road, where patrons can take up culinary courses to sharpen their skills. We visited this cafe on a weekday during lunch hour, and it was packed to the brim with office workers who happened to work around the Tiong Bahru/Outram Park area.
The Tofu Burger ($8.90 for a la carte) comprised a herby vegetarian patty (made of tofu and tempeh) sandwiched between two freshly baked wholemeal buns that were soft and fluffy. Coupled with the natural sweetness of caramelized onions and tomato sauce, every bite made us yearn for more. In fact, the burger was so tasty that one would easily forget that he/she is actually eating something that’s certified a “healthier choice”. Perfect for indulging without adding inches to your waist. :D
The Seafood Baked Rice ($8.90 for a la carte) took a longer time to be served, but it came piping hot so we didn’t mind. The prawns were succulent and the generous serving of mozarella cheese was baked to golden brown. As I write this post, my mouth is salivating again. Not to mention the nicely-executed salad, this dish is just YUMYUM.
Verdict: All in all, Caffe Pralet is an exquisite cafe serving unpretentious and delicious food. Do drop by for its lunch menu or sample their cakes and sweets. Worth a try!
